Michael P. Shannon, Ph.D.

Few honors in my life rival that of serving as an American Soldier in the United States Army. It has been a defining chapter, shaping every facet of my identity. The experiences of fostering camaraderie among individuals from diverse backgrounds, leading, learning, and serving, stand as some of the most profound moments in my journey, ultimately leading me here to the Â鶹´«Ã½.

I am deeply honored by the opportunity to serve as the 18th president of this incredibly special university. Likewise, I am filled with immense excitement for the journey ahead. I envision a bold trajectory - a chance for the Â鶹´«Ã½ to make a substantial impact on the lives of our students, the north Georgia region, throughout our esteemed State, and across our nation.

All of this because the Â鶹´«Ã½ delivers, and we are stepping up to deliver like never before. We are planting our flag - we are changing the face of higher education. 

I challenge you to explore Â鶹´«Ã½ - our mission, our work, our five campuses - and determine how we can serve you. Thank you to everyone for all you do to make the Â鶹´«Ã½ what it is and for joining me as we boldly move forward and run into our calling.
