Preferred Names Policy

Beginning June 2021, the University launched a for students and employees.

Students requesting a Preferred First Name should complete a Preferred First Name Change Request within the Personal Information Tab of their Banner Account. The request will be reviewed by the Registrar in consultation with the Director of Diversity & Inclusion. Students who are denied a Preferred First Name request may appeal to the Vice President for Student Engagement and Success.

Employees requesting use of a Preferred First Name should contact the Office of Human Resources

All Gender Restrooms

The �鶹��ý is a gender diverse community and invites individuals to choose the restroom they find welcoming and safe. All gender restrooms can be found on the Blue Ridge, Dahlonega, Gainesville, and Oconee campuses.

Safe Zone Initiative

The Safe Zone Initiative is a LGBTQ+ sensitivity training program for faculty and staff. The individuals who have participated in the training are committed to being an understanding and non-judgmental listener for anyone who needs to discuss their experience.
